Registration FAQ

When is the season?

The 2026 spring season will commence on Saturday, April 11 and be marked by Opening Day festivities. Closing Day ceremonies will take place on Saturday, June 6. There will be no games on Saturday, May 23, in observance of Memorial Day.

Some minor and major teams will participate in in-season interleague tournaments located around the Portland area (ie Milwaukie, Gresham, Vancouver).

Each week, all teams will play one Saturday morning or afternoon game and one weekday 6pm game (Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu).

Practices typically commence in mid-to-late March, with most teams practicing once or twice per week. Tee ball teams do not hold separate practices, but practice during the first 30 minutes of their scheduled game time.

Is my child eligible to play for SEPLL?

Little League removed some of its eligibility restrictions for younger players beginning in 2025. During the spring, all players League Age 4-7 are able to play for any league of their choosing - regardless of the location of their residence or school. Players who are League Age 8 and up must either live or attend school within SEPLL's boundaries in order to play for SEPLL during the spring. These rules do not apply to fall ball.

To determine your player's geographical eligibility to play for SEPLL, please check Little League's League Finder Tool.

What is League Age?

A player's League Age determines their eligibility for a given level and is calculated differently for softball and baseball (how confusing, right?!):

Softball: A softball player's League Age for 2026 is their age as of December 31, 2025.

Baseball: A baseball player's League Age for 2026 is their age as of August 31, 2026.

What division is best for my player?

While there is some flexibility depending on a player's skill level, SEPLL's divisions generally consist of players with the following League Ages:

Baseball (coed):

  • Tee Ball: 4-5
  • Rookie: 6-7
  • Farm: 8
  • Minor: 9-10
  • Major: 11-12
  • Intermediate (50/70): 12-13

Softball (girls only):

  • Tee Ball: 4-5
  • Rookie: 6-7
  • Farm: 7-9
  • Minor: 9-11
  • Major: 10-12
  • Junior: 12-14

Please review the PROGRAMS tab on our home page to find the division that will best suit your player.

Can I request a specific coach or teammate for my player?

In the Tee Ball, Rookie, and Farm divisions, SEPLL does its best to create teams by grouping children according to their neighborhoods and schools, while also ensuring a relative balance of ages among the teams. We will do our best to honor requests to play with friends or a specific coach, but cannot make any guarantees.

In the Minor, Major, and Intermediate levels, SEPLL does not accept requests to play with friends or for specific coaches. SEPLL aims for competitive balance when creating Minor rosters.

Major teams are formed using an annual draft which is held shortly after player assessments.

What and When are Player Assessments?

For each spring season, all players League Age 9 and up are required to attend at least one assessment session, which take place in February, usually at La Salle Catholic College Preparatory School.

Assessments are not tryouts, but are intended to measure players' skills so they may be placed at the appropriate level. These evaluations are used to help create competitively balanced teams at the upper levels.

Players in the Tee Ball, Rookie, and Farm divisions do not attend assessments.

What discounts does SEPLL offer?

Early Bird Discount: We offer early registrants a $20 discount through December 15

Sibling Discount: For families enrolling more than one player, we offer a $60 discount for the second player and an $80 discount for the third player.

Family Maximum: No family will be asked to pay more than $400 for each regular season. All-Star registration fees are extra.

Does SEPLL offer scholarships?

SEPLL grants partial or full scholarships to families in need upon request through the Kirk Huffstetler Memorial Scholarship Fund. It is SEPLL policy to never turn away a player because of an inability to pay registration fees. SEPLL asks families to pay what they can afford. Please see the Kirk Huffstetler Memorial Scholarship Fund for more information.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds are only issued prior to the opening game of each season, with the exception of injury-related cancellations.
